Residential Design

In residential applications, shade is the first priority with aesthetics a close second. When you meet with one of our designers we listen first to understand what you are looking for and where you want shade. Then we use our experience and training to come up with a design that not only provides shade but fits in with your backyard and looks great!

Most of our shade products are designed to provide shade from late morning until afternoon. This is accomplished by placing the lowest side of the shadecloth towards the west. We have optional valances which can keep areas shaded until early evening in some cases.

We understand that shade sails are somewhat new to the U.S. To help visualize what the finished product will look like we offer 3-D drawings. You can view the project from any angle as well as watch how the shade is cast throughout the day, even for different months of the year.

Looking Great:

In our experience we find that the more difference there is in the heights of the posts, the more dramatic the final design will be. It would not be uncommon to have posts up to 14’ high in a backyard, if the local building codes allow.

Using 2 or more different color sails is very popular. If the sails overlap at some point then the look is even more dramatic. This can be done to blend in with the landscape or contrast with it depending on your style.

More Functionality:

Our shade sails are made with a stainless steel cable sewn into the perimeter. This allows misting systems and lighting to be added without voiding the warranty.

We offer an optional valance which is a vertical section of the sail that drops down to shade even later in the day.
